T.K.M.S.'s Safety Program is an integral part of our business. There is nothing more important than keeping the community and our workforce
safe. A keen focus on all possible safety measures is part of the formula in making T.K.M.S. one of the best gravel haulers in Southeastern
Michigan.
As with any essential program, leadership from a focused, engaged, and motivated individual is the key to success. Adam Wilberding has been
developing, directing, and refining T.K.M.S.'s Safety Program, and its affiliate companies, for nearly a decade.
Certain aspects standout as being fundamental to our safety program:
- Pre-employment screening for all employee candidates: Substance abuse screenings, driving record checks, and criminal record checks all help to ensure a qualified and professional work force.
- There is random drug testing for all employees combined with a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for substance abuse.
- Drivers are educated using the Smith System advanced defensive driving program, which significantly lowers accident potential resulting from human error.
- Training classes are offered through our suppliers and industry associations. Bendix Brake System Seminar and Michigan Center for Truck Safety’s Periodic Inspection Training are two of the most important of these classes offered to our maintenance staff.
- A partnership exists with our insurance carrier to provide further education and safety program enhancements to all employees.
T.K.M.S. doesn’t just talk about safety measures, we live & breathe them! For more information on our company’s safety program, please contact:

ASI, a partner with T.K.M.S. in Safety, recently was awarded a Partner in Safety Award for hosting a number of Periodic Inspection Training sessions on site. Attached is the excerpt from the spring 2008 edition of Safety Scene, a Michigan Center for Truck Safety publication.
